The short version.
There is no sign-up and no login, and we never ask for your name, age or contact details. Your game progress — levels cleared, stars, records and coins — stays on your device. Appl.GongBang does not keep a copy.
What does leave the device is anonymous usage statistics, advertising, and downloading an average-time file. Ads are requested as if every player were a child, so no personalised advertising is served and no advertising identifier is used. Each item is described below.
The following is stored in storage that only this app can access. It is never transmitted, including to us.

It is kept until you uninstall the app, and is removed when the app is uninstalled. Only the last 31 days of solved days are kept for the calendar.
We collect anonymous statistics to learn which sentences are hard and which features are actually used, so that we can improve the game.
To show “the average time of all players” on the result screen, the solve times from the statistics above are exported to Google Cloud BigQuery (Seoul region), where the average for each level is calculated.
Once every 12 hours the app downloads the per-level average-time file from a distribution address operated by Appl.GongBang (Cloudflare Workers). This is download only; nothing is uploaded from your device.
This app has two kinds of ads.
Because the app does not ask your age, every ad request carries a child-directed treatment signal and a content rating limit of G (general audiences). Under this configuration, personalised (interest-based) advertising is not served. On Android the advertising ID permission is removed from the app, and on iOS the app does not request tracking permission (ATT).
After you have cleared a number of levels, the app may open the Google Play or App Store rating window. That window is shown by the store itself, and any rating or review you leave goes to the store under your store account. The app cannot tell whether the window actually appeared or what you wrote.
When the above connections are made, the IP address of your device, the device type and the operating system version may be conveyed to the respective service providers. This is inherent to internet communication; Appl.GongBang does not separately collect or retain it.

The servers of these providers may be located outside the Republic of Korea (for example in the United States). The information in section 2 may therefore be transferred abroad over the network while you use the app, and handled under each provider’s retention rules. If you do not want statistics to be sent, uninstalling the app stops all transmission.

This app does not request device permissions such as camera, microphone, photos, location or contacts. It uses only an internet connection, for statistics, advertising and the average-time file. Puzzles can be played without an internet connection.
Hangul Cryptogram is a game that children can enjoy too. Because we do not ask anyone’s age, we treat every player as a child and observe the following:
Because the data of this app lives on your device, uninstalling the app removes all of it immediately. If you change devices or reinstall, your progress starts from the beginning.
The anonymous statistics have no user ID, so Appl.GongBang cannot pick out the data of a particular user; there is therefore no record for us to disclose or correct. Questions about this policy can be sent to the address in section 9.
